Shear Launch Day!

To celebrate the installation of our new Leimbach 1400 Electric Shear, TotalWM held an exciting VIP launch day at Basildon HQ. The guest of honour being Justin Widdowson’s father, Gary Widdowson. Gary is the original founder of Total Waste Management and was extremely proud to see the impressive machine in action.

The Leimbach was christened in true style – with a ceremonial bottle of Champagne and guests and staff toasting to its new name, 'Albert' (named after Justin’s grandfather). We are all excited for the bright future ahead for our family-run business.

Costing £2.5m, the fully electric shear is nothing short of a work horse capable of cutting through large volumes of scrap metal quickly and efficiently, processing upwards of 500 tonnes of ferrous and non-ferrous metal a day.

The real beauty of this machine is that it is capable of processing all shapes and sizes of material (including oversize) which was previously quite challenging to process on site. The shear’s design also allows for precise cutting of scrap metal which can improve the quality of the end product.

We are thrilled to welcome ‘Albert’ into the world! The brighter future starts now!

Previous videos of the build are available here.
