1950s:

Albert Gordon Widdowson joined W.C Jones.
Albert Widdowson bought G.D. Metal Company and opened his first yard.
Purchase of Salts Scrap Metal, Walsall West Midlands.

1990:

Purchase of C. H. Ford.

1995:

Purchase of New Site in Deptford.

1997:

Purchase of a site in South Shields, Tyne & Wear.

1998:

First export facility opened.

1999:

Purchase of Enfield Metal trading, North London and Purchase of Sheppards Metal.
Purchase of F.W. Rookes Metal Company in North London.

2000:

Opening of a  four acre dock on The River Thames.

2001:

New Site opens in Deptford, South East London.

2003:

Purchase of H. Williams + Sons, Hitchin Herts.

2005:

Received Queens Award for Industry plus Purchase of William Fry & Co West London.
Group Name change to Metal and Waste Recycling Ltd.

2006:

Purchase of Formans Recycling in County Durham.

2007:

Family Sale of Metal and Waste Recycling Ltd to Barclays Private Equity.

2008

Acquisition of Gillett Recycling in Harlow Expansion.

2014:

Purchase of new four acre state of the art recycling facility in Basildon, Essex.
Purchase of Hammel shredder. A Bonfiglioli Baler was also installed at our site in Epping, Essex.

2015:

Export Facility in place at Basildon.

2016:

Purchase of a 900T Lefort Shear installed at Basildon to increase processing capacity. £500,000 investment.

2018:

Purchase of three new Altas Mobile Handlers and an Ecotechnique Baler.

2019:

Acquisition of three non-ferrous shredders to process high volumes of alloy grades.

2020:

Purchase of the Rota 710 (Shear/Baler) installed at Epping site to further increase processing capability and re-development of Epping site at a cost of £300K.

2021:

Public commitment to actively manage and reduce carbon emissions and report results.
Purchase of two new sites: Hockley, Birmingham and Halsfield, Telford (three and one acre facilities respectively).

2022:

Release of Carbon Baseline Report upon which all future carbon reduction strategies will be measured.
A further one acre site acquired in Basildon to aid further expansion.
Installation of solar panels on buildings at Basildon site.
TWM become 100% Carbon Neutral with the Award of the Gold Standard.

2023:

Leimbach Electric Shear installation at Basildon site, at a cost of £2.5m.
Installation of Birim Electric Material Handler at Basildon site.
Winner of the Independent Operator of the Year award at the National Recycling Awards.
